Wait, isn't Summer supposed to be relaxing? As the end of August comes closer and closer, I can feel the stress of senior year building and building. I thought I had a good idea of what to expect, but I had no idea how quickly it all came! There is so much pressure to leave a positive lasting image. For me, this means sustaining great grades, completing cross country and track season with personal record times, and possibly participating in homecoming court and the school scholarship pageant. Apart from the pressures I put on myself, there are also the pressures every senior has: scholarships and college applications. With all of this going on, there has to be some way to wind down. I like to call it yoga. I have found yoga so therapeutical. The first four times I did it, I wasn't exactly in love. Recently, though, it has saved my life. I had a stress fracture along with shin splints, and once the stress fracture healed, I had some remaining pain in my shin. This was just more stress in my life. Doing yoga gave me a peace of mind. Although its not everyone's cup of tea, it was definitely mine. Now, I set aside around an hour about five days a week for some yoga time, and I feel more at peace than ever before. I can finally enjoy what Summer is all about.
